This workshop will focus on plein air painting outdoors. We
will work on location every day, weather permitting. There will
also be time for lecture information and demonstrations. We will
focus on several key points throughout the week: understanding
and simplifying shapes while balancing warm and cool colors,
laying down a foundation quickly while creating focal points
and developing the overall painting. Creating atmospheric perspective
and composition devolpment will also be addressed and there will
be plenty of individual attention.
THE INSTRUCTOR: Auster, a native Californian began
his art career in silk screen and graphic design, while studying
illustration at CSLB. In the 1990's he began plein air painting
and focused on his natural ability for painting a "moment
in time charged with a hint of narrative drama." Auster
is a signature and founding member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters
Association, the California Art Club and Oil Painters of America.
He has participated in numerous exhibitions, and his works are
included in permanent collections worldwide.
