This class will focus on the ability to paint quickly and
accurately which can be useful in many situations. Techniques
for achieving a spontaneous, yet controlled approach will be
practiced. We will be working outside, not only with the
landscape, but also with a model. Numerous small studies
will be painted each day, followed by a review. We will also
be working with the model in the studio, for at least one full
day. Mr. English has given numerous workshops around the country
and is on the faculty of the Denver Student Arts League. Individual
attention is his specialty.
THE INSTRUCTOR: Kim English was raised in Colorado.
He attended the Rocky Mountain School of Art and now teaches
at the Denver Art Students League. Mr. English says, "Immediacy
is important not only because it is the nature of people, but
for me, it is the most instinctive way to paint. The process
is like a performance..." His work has been widely exhibited
and he has been featured in Southwest Art Magazine, Artists
Magazine and in the book entitled, Figure Drawing Workshop
by Carole Katchen. He has received numerous awards, most recently
- the Gold Medal at the Allied Artists of America Exhibition,
November 1994, in New York. He is an attentive and gifted painter.
