OIL PAINTING - THE LANDSCAPE
Tuition: $450.
The Class: This class will begin with slides and a discussion of outdoor painting principles, methods and materials. We will work outdoors daily with an emphasis on color, composition and value. Michael will demonstrate as needed, but the class will primarily be "hands on" for the students. Previous outdoor experience is preferred, but not required. All levels welcome. Lynch believes painting on location gives work a greater degree of spontaneity and truth.
The Artist: Michael Lynch is an energetic artist, who is best known for his plein-air landscapes with their bold brushstrokes. Originally from Denver, his interest in art began at an early age and was influenced by many area artists, including: Ned Jacob, Mark Daily and George Carlson. He has traveled extensively through the US and Europe. A member of the Chelsea Arts Club in London and the National Academy of Western Art he also has his work in numerous private collections. Michael Lynch has been featured in The Santa Fean, Art of the West and Focus Santa Fe magazines.
