Experience the
beautiful Taos summer in the scenic countryside of the Sangre de
Cristo mountains, as you paint alongside nationally known artist
Eric Michaels. Eric
will demonstrate his “direct approach” to landscape painting
while providing group instruction and individual assistance.
Every student will develop confidence and good judgement
for painting from life, learn to recognize the quality of light
and nature and learn to simplify the subject.
Learning to paint “alla prima” and render the subject
accurately will be covered. Critiques
and discussion will range from travel anecdotes to the business of
art and a memorable experience for all is guaranteed.
THE INSTRUCTOR: Born and raised in
Illinois with a BFA in art, Michaels worked as a commercial artist
and then turned to a career in fine art.
He travels extensively from his home base in Trinidad, CO
and has been widely exhibited from the Royal Watercolour Society
in London to the Artists of America.
Michaels’ work can be seen in the Albuquerque Museum of
Fine Art, The Haggin Museum and the Americana Museum as well as
several corporate collections.
Eric is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America,
National Watercolor Society and the Pastel Society of America.
